The company's Food Scrap Compost Program is receiving international interest for diverting material from landfill disposal. The program started in San Francisco, the first large city in the nation to initiate citywide collection of food scraps for composting. Norcal also collects food scraps for composting from businesses in Oakland, and Los Angeles recently contracted with Norcal to initiate the service in areas with numerous restaurants.
